Project Updates for 4/2/2013
I added the code that shows the features enabled and shows the lights for active RC channels. After a number of program crashes, I narrowed down the rogue code and had it check for bad values and display error messages to the log about why it was encountering those values. After that it started working. I optimized the code a bit by replacing parts with more efficient code as I figured out some better ways to do things. After getting that working, I tried making some channels inactive and a bug in the PIC program was immediately apparent. This is exactly why I'm developing my Android interface! It's a minor bug, but one I'll address as soon as I finish this stage of the android program.
Next I need to get the RC Channel Values for each of the active channels, set the value labels, and set the progress bars to show a visual of where the channels seems to fall. After that, I need it to display what the Ping Sensor is detecting. I also need to set the program to not read the RC Channels if that feature is set as disabled and the same for the Ping sensor. Then I need to clean up a few graphic details and it should be ready to run for now.
I also found a couple of interesting IR detection sensors. There's a basic one that I'm really looking getting about 4 of, since it looks like it does exactly what I want in an IR sensor for a great price. The more Complex IR Sensor looks interesting as well. It communicates with the Arduino (via Serial I think) and it can be used to tell where an object of interest is located. This one might be interesting to use with a camera that automatically point towards where it senses an object. So, that's where I am for tonight.
