Project Updates for 4/1/2013

[img android_interface1.jpg||left]It's been a little over a week since my last update, but I've been working on on my robot. I actually made a lot of progress just tonight. Over the past week and a half I've completed several important items including coming up with a basic layout, which turned out pretty much what I sketched out on paper. The code for returning requested data is now complete on the Arduino side. I'm working on getting the Android interface to update based on the returned values.

I currently have the switches changing to the correct values, with which the command is issues upon connection establishment. I created tabs as I had planned and and finished laying out the interface tonight. I also created a landscape layout to accomodate turning the Android. I used Layout includes and created each section in separate files so I could easily rearrange things. I created a useful log tab which I can use to put any detailed debugging info on. The servos tab is for future use which I plan to use to control the servos with (if it's useful).

The next items are to finish are to get the rest of the data to display on the interface and then start a loop to get the android to send commands to request each piece of data so that the interface is constantly updating. At that point it will make sensor development much easier. For instance, I could create an IR sensor tab and display whatever test data I would like. This would allow me to get much more data than I could with a handful of LEDs or even an LCD display. I still need to mount the new arduino board (which is the board I've been using for development) onto the robot as well. It's currently sitting on top of the other board with a piece of paper acting as an insulator.
