Project Updates for 3/11/2013
It's been a while, but I've been getting back into the robotics project again. There are a couple new things. First of all, I kind of broke the ICD2 board by plugging it into an incorrectly wired USB port. When trying to replace the USB chip, I lost some traces, so I may have to remake a board in order to get that reworking, but that's on hold for now.
The current project is connecting my Android tablet to the Arduino and using that for testing/debugging purposes. To do that, I'm learning Android programming. So far I've made a program that runs in host mode on the tablet and detects when the Arduino is plugged in and unplugged. Then I started working on the Arduino end. I'm starting work on code that communicates with the computer in serial mode over USB. That's coming along pretty good so far. I picked up an Arduino Mega 2560 R3 in order to upgrade the board for my robot to one with more connections for future expansion. I integrated the serial code into the main OS and programmed it onto the new board. By looking through the source code, I figured out where to correctly plug the wires. However, when I plugged in the new board, it didn't quite function correctly. I plugged my Arduino shield into the old board and it functioned correctly, so it's either the code or the new board. So I'll try reprogramming the old board and see what happens. After I get the Android tablet working with it, that should make testing this much easier.
